  Hi there,

  It’s not possible to set this as a default option on WordPress.com sites, as doing that would violate web accessibility standards – forcing links to open in new tabs overrides the default behaviour of all browsers and makes it very hard for visually impaired users with screen readers or users who are unable to use a mouse to use a website.
