How to set up a multilingual blog (that performs in seo)?

  Hello,

  How do you set up a blog in multiple languages?

  – I wish to be able to add SEO descriptions for each of the languages
  – I wish to able to rank for each of the languages in their respective language.

  I thought I could set up multiple blog and link between the i.e
  English language: http://www.xyz.wordpress.com
  German language http://www.de.xyz.wordpress.com

  this option doesn’t work as wordpress.com doesn’t allow you to use “.” or “-” in the url.

  How have you guys gone about solving this kind of setup?

  We don’t. You cannot have a subdomain of a whatever.wordpress.com blog.

  Some people have two separate blogs. Some people write one blog, but make alternate posts in each language. Some people just use a translation widget.

  Oh, you will rank. But you will rank lower in each language search than you would if you had two separate blogs.
