How To test a theme?

    The Daily Post of Oct. 30, 2013/ beginner says to find ‘My Blog’ on the blue bar in order to create a new blog for theme testing purposes. The blue bar does not show this. Is this Daily Post obsolete? If so how can a theme be tested without losing anything (even temporarily) on your site?
