How to transfering a Domain from a Non WordPress site to a WordPress hosted site

    Hi,

    I work for Hallmark Cards and have been charged with migrating the current Shoebox Blog to WordPress. Actually we are going to throw out the current blog, and start from scratch hosting the new blog on WordPress,if I can get some things working. Right now the domain “Shoebox.com” is parked at a hosting service called web thimble at the following IP 165.193.83.157

    The domain expires on November 4th according to the DNS Lookup I did. I need to use Shoebox.com as my domain. Hallmark is requiring it for brand consistency across all of our products. How do I get the Shoebox.com domain moved to WordPress?

    I can’t create a new WordPress site and use it since it is already registered, and unavailable when I try to create a new WordPress site.

    What you will want to do is create a new WordPress.com site (or use one you already have) and map shoebox.com to that WordPress.com site using these instructions:

    Do NOT let the domain expire at your domain registrar. I cannot stress that highly enough.
