How to troubleshoot for my followers?
-
My followers aren’t receiving notifications when I publish a new post.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’ll tag this thread for Staff assistance. Will you please provide a couple of usernames for those WordPress.com bloggers who did not receive the emails as well as a couple of email addresses for those who do not have WordPress.com accounts? The software will automatically redact ie. HIDE the email addresses so only Staff can see them. After you do that subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Hi there,
As timethief mentioned, it will help to have the usernames or email addresses for some of the followers who aren’t receiving notifications, along with a link to one of the posts they didn’t receive the notification for. I can use that to investigate this on our end.

Will be back in touch later today with emails. There are multiple posts from my blog that weren’t received–most of the latest posts.

Ok, these are some folks who I know did not receive recent posts:
(email visible only to moderators and staff)
(email visible only to moderators and staff)
(email visible only to moderators and staff)
(email visible only to moderators and staff)Also, some folks said early on that they did not see a “follow” option when they read my early posts. They then tried to follow using the RSS feed option.

Hi Betsy,
Thanks for those email addresses. I checked each of them in our system, and only the first email address is subscribed for email notifications about your posts. The last email we sent that follower for your blog was on May 14, when you published your most recent post.
You can also check your list of followers from your My Stats page, to see who is subscribed. In the “Totals, Followers, & Shares” box you can click on the “Blog” link to see all of your WordPress.com and email followers.
Just a note, if someone follows your blog’s RSS feed they won’t receive any email notifications from WordPress.com when you update your blog and they won’t appear in your list of followers. In that case, they will receive your new blog posts in whichever RSS feed reader they use.
Please let me know if you have any questions about that!

Why do some people have the “follow” option when they view my posts and others not? The people who didn’t have the follow option were using the RSS feed instead.
Sorry to be so ignorant of all of these things. I thought blogging would be easier than it is!
Thanks, Betsy

Hi Betsy,
Everyone who visits your blog should see an option to follow your blog. If they are logged in to a WordPress.com account, the “Follow” button will be in the upper left, in their admin bar. If the visitor doesn’t have an account or isn’t logged in, they should see a “Follow” button in the lower right. We have more about that here: Following Blogs
If someone isn’t seeing either of those options, there may be a problem with their browser settings. However, I’d need to talk with them directly to troubleshoot that, since it’d be specific to the computer they’re using.
