Is there someone who can chat with me to help me get my site dialed in? I’m having issues trying to get it the way I want.

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

Just to confirm, is thewilsonstravel.wordpress.com the site you need help with?

If it is, then how exactly can we help you?

Sorry, I wasn’t clearer. Yes that is the site. I want to remove the navigation on the side of the page and just have my recent posts take up more real estate. I already have a nav on the upper right corner.

I also want to change the title “the wilsons travel” on the homepage or remove it completely.

    Thanks in advance!

  • Hi there,

By design the theme you are using has a two column layout, where the sidebar takes up half of the layout. You can see that here on the info page for your theme: https://wordpress.com/theme/publication/

Because the layout of this theme is “baked in” to the design itself, it cannot easily be modified. It is possible to make tweaks if you upgrade to our Premium Plan, which includes the ability to add custom CSS to modify the theme source code.

However, without an upgrade of that nature there is no way to modify the current theme. In that case I would instead suggest switching to one of the themes we offer here, choosing one that is closest to what you are after in terms of site width and design: https://wordpress.com/themes/

I also want to change the title “the wilsons travel” on the homepage or remove it completely.

You can remove that here, under the Site Identity tab on the left:
    https://wordpress.com/customize/

Just un-check this setting and save your changes:

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
