How to upgrade your free WP account and maintain privacy

    I want to upgrade my free account to a basic plan. I do not want anyone being able to know or track my identity–how is this possible?

    Hi there,

    By “anyone”, do you also mean WordPress.com staff?

    If so, then you won’t be able to upgrade. In order to upgrade you need to provide a valid credit card, details of which includes the name printed on the card, or have a PayPal account (and PayPal will require even more info of you to create an account there than we require for a simple CC payment.)

    We do not support any kind of anonymous purchasing of WordPress.com upgrades.
