HTTP error
-
I get HTTP error when I upload image files. I have read other posts about this error and attempted some of the solutions suggested. I get the error with all the file types that I have attempted and with various sizes. This is incredibly frustrating and time-consuming. Please help.

Hi there!
I’m sorry, that does sound really frustrating. Can you tell me what types of files you’ve tried and which editor you’re using?
-
I have used jpg, gif, tif files and all have the same error. Most are image files which I have downloaded. I attempted editing, or grabbing screen shots with SnagIt and still got the same error.

Thanks! I really want to figure out where this error is being triggered. It would be really helpful if you could answer the following questions for me:
- To clarify, you’re seeing this error when you upload images to other sources as well, not just your WordPress.com site?
- It looks like you’re using a slightly outdated version of Internet Explorer. Could you see if it works using a different one like Firefox or Chrome? If you’re able to update your browser, can you test if it works once updated as well?
- And can you try clearing your cache and cookies?
http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clear-your-cache-and-cookies
- Are you using the classic editor or the new editor? And does uploading work if you do it through the Media Library instead?
-
I have attempted the update with IE, Chrome and Opera. All had the same problem. I just cleared the cache and cookies from IE and tried again. Same error.
The editor does not state Classic or New anywhere that I see.
I am using the Media Library. I edit a post, select Insert Media, Upload File and get the error. The title “Media Library” is displayed on the window showing the images that I have previously uploaded.

Thanks for testing those things!
Sorry for being unclear. Can you take a look at these to editors and let me know which one you’re using:
And can you try uploading here and let me know if you get the same error:

The web site is karenhigginsconsulting.com
It is the editor from the dashboard.
Using wp-admin/upload.php gets me the HTTP error.
-
I contacted the web hosting company. They fixed it by “adding some corrective changes to the .htaccess file”.
So this is resolved.

Oh great! In the future, if you’re looking for help with your self-hosted site, the WordPress.org forums will be able to help you better than we will, since this forum is only for sites hosted here on WordPress.com.
Let me know if you have any other questions!
