HTTP ERROR 500

My website, as well as the admin panel, cannot be accessed since the site was updated and the only information I have to go off of is ‘HTTP ERROR 500.’ I still have access I to the site is via GoDaddy/CPanel. I found a forum regarding this, however, I can’t figure out how or where to find the option to reset the plugins and theme or to rename the .htaccess file. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Hi there,

All signs point to the fact that your site is a self-hosted WordPress.org site, not a WordPress.com site.

To clear up any confusion, self-hosted WordPress sites and WordPress.com are two, different entities, but the essential difference is that we don’t have access to all WordPress sites, only ones hosted on our WordPress.com servers. For more information, please see:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

This sounds like a great question for the WordPress.org forum community – http://wordpress.org/support/forums

    Thanks!

I’m having the exact same issue through my godaddy host! Let me know if you figure it out!

  • Hi @megharmon, you will also want to use the forums for DIY, self-managed installations at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

Or you might ask GoDaddy about error logs, or restoring from a recent backup. Again, we don’t have access to any of that because your site is not on our servers. Hopefully they can help you!
