  I am trying to register a domain with the .WordPress extension. Has this been done away with or is the site experiencing technical errors?

  Hi there,

  To use a free WordPress.com address, make sure you select Business as the type of site.

  If you select Blog, you’ll instead see one of our free .blog subdomains being offered as the free address.
