I am linking from a page on our public site to our private members only site. When I press the link in the public site, it does take me to the private site but the page displays the message, “NOT FOUND, Apologies, but no results were found for the requested archive.” Any idea what have done wrong.

By default the front page of your blog displays all posts. The 404 (page not found) error message on the front page of the blog appeared because the Admin of the blog deleted the placeholder Hello World post. http://en.support.wordpress.com/not-found/ As soon as you publish a post, not a page it will disappear. Read the differences between Pages and Posts.

Hi there,
I can see aurachamberchoirmembersonly.wordpress.com and it is working properly. Furthermore, the link to that page from http://aurachamberchoir.com/members-resources/ also seems to be working properly.
It does look like the member update links on the private site are directing to a Posterous site that is no longer working, so that could be causing your problem.
Make sure you are logged in to the site at aurachamberchoirmembersonly.wordpress.com when you try to access it, or you will get a login window.

I tried posting a test message from the private site as suggested by the first responder. I just tried the link from the public site to the private site and am still getting the error message. The link does work and I arrive at the private site just fine except that the error message appears (which could make our members think that there is a problem with the site).

As timethief indicated, you need to have a home page at aurachamberchoirmembersonly.wordpress.com.
Go to https://aurachoir.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-reading.php and for “Front page displays”, set one of your pages as the “front page” so that it defaults to an actual page. Right now it is looking for a blog post and you have none.

Thank you for your help. I have now resolved the problem. My confusion stems from the fact that I did have posts on the private site but have now realized that they were set to “private” in the visibility options. Once changed to public posts, the error was resolved. Thanks again for your help…. I’m new to this.
