I am looking to graduate to my own web site
-
I own a domain name. It points to a shared site which I must leave. Can you describe to me to me how I can transfer my domain name from OMNIS (I already have the EPP code) to WORDPRESS without wrecking its connection to the shared site. I don’t want to kill the connection to the old site until I am ready to launch a completely new set of pages.

Hi there,
That is not an issue – what you could do is create a site with a free WordPress.com blog address. You are assigned a
.wordpress.comor a.home.blogsubdomain whenever you create a site with WordPress.com, so you can just use that as the domain as you build the new site without interrupting the old site. Once you are done developing the site, you can make the decision to transfer the domain over:https://en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer/
map an existing domain:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/
Or even create a new one:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/register-domain/
Hope this helps,
