I am unable to verify the site on Google.

I am not techy at all, so please try to limit the amount of techy words? I tried to use the meta tag way, but I can’t find the HTML tags. I also used the Google Web Verification Tools, but every time I verify it, Google says that it didn’t verify. I’m on a wordpress.com, and didn’t purcahse the CSS upgrade. What do I need to do? Thanks!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there, could you please paste the meta tag Google provided you so I can take a peek? Be sure to use the “code” formatting buttons in the forum post editor so it will display properly. Thanks!

My site also says that I need to update my DNS? How would I do that?

  • Hi there, before we get to the verification of your domain with Google, thanks for letting me know about the DNS settings message.

I’ve had a closer look at your domain and it looks like there was a glitch when you tried to register it on Aug. 25. I’ve removed the non-functioning upgrade and credited your account for the full amount – would you mind please trying the registration again and let me know when you’re done? (When you do that, the DNS records should get set properly on their own, without you having to change them later.)

Once this is sorted out, we’ll be able to verify your domain with Google. Thanks!

Hi Kathrynwp, I just redid it, and the DNS now says it is correct. Thanks for that! Now i’m not too sure what to do about the Google verification…

  • Great, glad you got the DNS sorted out!

I had a look at your Tools page and your Google verification looks like it’s been entered correctly.

Now you just need to head back to the Google Webmaster Tools page while logged into your Google account, and click the Verify link, following the instructions:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/

Once you get a success message from Google, you should be all set!
