I bought a space upgrade, why can't I upload mp3 audios?

I can’t upload audio and I did buy the space upgrade

I bought the space upgrade of 10 gigs, and when I try to write a post, it tells me I can add mp3 files, but when I try to upload them, nothing happens–the files are rejected. The file i’m trying to upload is well under the 1 gig limit (25 mgs). Help!?

Just to be sure, are you following the guide at http://en.support.wordpress.com/audio/ and do the files have a .mp3 extension?

I don’t understand the guide issue. I’m using a mac so I don’t think the flash player is relevant. Is it? I go to “edit post” and click on “add media.” I’m asked to select a file, which I do. Then when I click “upload” nothing happens. Yes, the file does have a .mp3 file extension. THANK YOU!

Ok, you would see an error if it was an issue with not having a space upgrade.
If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.
If you are, please do these four things:
1. Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies: http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/
2. Make sure that you have third-party cookies enabled: http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/
3. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.
4. Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/
Please let us know how each step goes for you, and which browser (and version of) you’re using if you’re still having trouble.

Thank you for your help! I am using Safari 5.1.7 (not on that list). I have empties cashe.

I have emptied cashe, deleted all cookies, enabled https . . . and still, I go to the edit post page, select add media, the popup window opens, i select my file, it appears in the window and the “upload” button activates, but when I push it, nothing happens.

PS: I have the latest version of Safari available for my computer. I do not run lion so cannot use safari 6.

I have also tried both types of uploads on wordpress–neither accept this file (and I tried a couple of other files just to make sure it wasn’t a file issue). Nothing is uploading!

Another thing, I’m only using 2.2 gigs of my 10.8 gig space–so I know that’s not the issue either.

Ok, since you can’t use the latest Safari, would you please try a different browser, like Firefox or Chrome?

Hi, Mac. Actually it does work . . . the multiple-upload screen doesn’t work at all, but the browser upload, once I clicked on it and let it sit for some minutes, finally did show the file. My confusion is there was no notice that it was downloading or anything. I think that’s a problem. This is only a 25 meg file and it took more than 3 minutes of sitting/waiting time for it the window to acknowledge the upload. Main problem? I wasn’t “waiting” long enough. WordPress’s problem, there’s no indication it’s working. Regardless, thank you for your help!

My best guess is that the issue lies with the older version of Safari, as I’m having no issue with Safari 6.0.1.
If you can try either Firefox 16.0.1 or Chrome 22, you might notice a speed improvement, plus both support more modern web technologies than Safari 5.
