I cancelled my domain and now can’t use it elsewhere

I just read about how there is a possibility of never being able to get the domain whitneysfocus.com back because I cancelled it. If no one else owns it, why can’t I buy it? Can someone help? I know now I made the mistake by cancelling it instead of transferring.

Your domain is pending to be deleted. It’s already past the time where we could have restored it so, the only thing to do is wait for it to be released.
We do not have control over this process, I’m afraid, so there’s no way to speed it up.
