I cannot access my wordpress site
-
From 2009-2018 I wrote this blog: https://saratbaker.wordpress.com/2009/01/
I no longer use the email associated with the account, (email visible only to moderators and staff). I created another account with my current email, (email visible only to moderators and staff), planning on migrating the older blog to the new site. But WordPress doesn’t recognize that I’m the owner of the older site. Therefore, I can’t get access to my own site.
Self-declared URL: https://saratbaker.wordpress.com/2009/01/

Hi,
Username saratbaker authored posts on that site, and the username profile still exists, here: https://wordpress.com/forums/users/saratbaker/. If that’s you and you remember the password to the site, then that would be enough to log into the site, unless two-step authentication was enabled.
If you’re able to access the site as described above, then you may change the account email address as described in the Change your email address support page.

I have contacted you via email regarding the account recovery inquiry. I recommend replying to the email so we can assist you with this.
Additionally, I strongly advise against sharing any private information, including payment details, in this forum to protect your security.
Let us know if you need anything else.

Thanks for reaching out! Since the blog is tied to your older email, WordPress needs to verify ownership before granting access. Creating a new account won’t automatically connect you to the old site.
Here’s what you can do:
- Account Recovery: Use WordPress.com’s account recovery form and provide as much detail as possible (old email, blog URL, approximate dates, billing info if applicable). This helps staff confirm you’re the rightful owner.
- Staff Assistance: Only WordPress.com staff can reassign the site. Be sure to respond quickly to any follow-up questions—they may ask for additional proof of ownership.
- Migration After Recovery: Once access is restored, you can export the content from the old blog and import it into your new account.
Since this involves ownership verification, the support team will need to handle it directly. Hang tight—they’ll guide you through the process so you can regain control of your blog.

You’ll need to recover your old WordPress.com account through the official Account Recovery Form. Since you don’t have access to the old email, WordPress.com will ask for proof that you own the blog (like past payment info or other details).
👉 Go here: https://wordpress.com/help/account-recovery
Fill it out with:- Your old blog URL: saratbaker.wordpress.com
- Explain you lost access to the old email.
- Add your new email so they can contact you.
If they can’t verify ownership, you won’t be able to log in — but you can still copy your public posts to your new site manually.
