I cannot edit posts.

  • Unknown's avatar

It has been about a month since I was last able to edit my posts. When I list the posts and click on “Edit” under the post I want to edit, it takes about 5 to 15 minutes to get a response. I then get an “Edit Post” screen. When I click on the “Edit” button, nothing happens except that, for a while, the edit button shows that it has been clicked on.

I am using ADSL2+, Firefox and linux.

I tried logging out, clearing the cache and cookies, and restarting Firefox. I still encountered the same problem. I also tried Chromium Web Browser with the same results.

My blog loads quickly and I am not experiencing any other problems with the Internet. I was not experiencing any problems editing my blog posts prior to about a month ago. At that time I was using ADSL2+, Firefox and linux.

I see from the forum that I am not the only person who has experience the above-mentioned problem.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I have checked all of this except for 3(d) because I don’t know how to find the Users -> Personal Settings screen. I normally use Firefox 29.0 and I have also tried Chromium 34. The version of Flash is 11,2,202,356. Versions later than 11.2 are not supported for linux.

There are no error reports, just an extremely slow response to the “edit” link under the post in the listing of posts and, also, failure to respond to the “Edit” button on the “Edit Post” screen.

I have tried using a Dell E6400 laptop running Linux Mint 16, an ASUS EeePC 1000H running Mint 14 and a desktop computer running Mint 16. I asked someone with a Mac laptop to log into my account and she experienced the same problems as I did. I asked someone with a laptop running Windows to log into my account and she also experienced the same problems. However, she then tried creating an account of her own and created a blog. She didn’t experience any problems editing that blog. Consequently, the problem appears to be specific to my account or blog.

    Hi there,

I’m sorry for the trouble you’re having! I reproduced that problem on your blog — it looks like it’s an issue with the blog itself. I’ve asked our developers to take a look to see what’s going wrong.

Thanks for reporting this. We’ll let you know as soon as we have an update for you.

    Hi there,

Our developers figured out what’s causing this problem: One of your posts is so large that the system is getting stuck. As a result, you’re not able to open any of the posts on your blog to edit them.

We were able to put a temporary fix in place, so you’ll have a week to go in and re-organize your posts. (If that long post is still on your blog after a week, you’ll run into the same problem again.) I’d recommend splitting up that long post into a series of shorter posts instead. You can then link each post to the next one in the series.

Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)
