I can’t change my site address even though no other site exists with the name.

    I recently purchased a domain name only to realise that I can’t update my site address to match. I’ve tried searching for a WordPress blog with the same site name but can’t find anything. How can I update my site address if I’ve already bought the domain name?

    Note: I am still on the free plan so my paid domain is only a redirect. I don’t have the funds to buy a whole plan yet.

    If you want to use your own custom domain on the wordpress.com platform, you must upgrade to a paid plan. The Starter Plan is suitable.

    If you don’t have a plan, you can redirect your custom domain but it will always show your wordpress.com subdomain.
