I can’t modify the website I was creating after changing my password

I need to finish building my website and couldn’t remember my password. When I changed it, it said I don’t have a wordpress site. I bought a domain and when I use it I get to my website in progress as a user, not the owner, and I don’t know how to get to a place where I can edit my website.

If you still have access to the email connected to the account that owns that site, you can enter that email address in the password recovery form:
https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
If that doesn’t work, in order to regain access to a WordPress.com account, we’ll need one of the following things:
* A transaction ID for any upgrades purchased for the account
https://en.support.wordpress.com/transaction-id/
* The WordPress.com account activation link, which we sent to your email address when you first registered with us.
