I can’t see the country list
-
Hi there, hope you’re doing well.
I am experiencing a strange situation: I have different WordPress accounts as I have different websites. One of them allows me to see the countries list (Stats section) while the other one tells me I have to upgrade my account.
Both are free accounts and I understand that both should include the same features.
Do you know how could it be fixed? It’s not an essential feature, but I like seeing from where my blog is visited.
Thank you in advance!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

(I didn’t notice the tag “payment”… Now is when I see it was automatically added, but I can’t delete it).

Hi there, It is possible that the age of the site is the reason for the difference in stats.
Did you create both sites around the same time or is one site much newer?
-
Hi @2020testjj,
Thank you for answering. Yes, I’ve created this account last year and published the site yesterday. The other website is at least 2 years old I think.
From what I saw in an article, all free plans should be able to access it. But I’m not sure if that information is correct.
-
@2020testjj, just for the records, I’m the one who wrote the previous comment too :) I’d forgotten that I wasn’t logged in as LibraSunMind.
-
From what I saw in an article,
Can you link to that article so we can take a look? Thanks.
-
@2020testjj here it is… but it’s in Spanish: https://wordpress.com/es/support/estadisticas/informacion-del-publico/
“The Locations section of your site’s statistics provides information on the geographical origin of your site’s traffic. You can break down traffic by country, region or city. (…) By default, you’ll see the Countries view. Sites on a WordPress.com Premium plan or higher can view traffic by region and city by clicking the relevant buttons.”
Thank you in advance :)

Hm, OK, thanks. The version in English (language switch in the footer) also seems to imply that viewing country stats is available on Free sites as well. https://wordpress.com/support/stats/audience-insights/
Let’s ping staff for their input here.

Hi there, thanks so much for reaching out and for the detailed explanation!
You’re right that the Free plan includes some basic stats. However, the extra details you’re looking for (such as referrers, countries, and clicks) are part of the stats Insights features.
Those Insights (including the detailed country list and other advanced audience information) are only available on paid plans. You can see this outlined in our support documentation here:
https://wordpress.com/support/stats/learn-insights-about-your-website/
So that’s why one site may show you more detailed information if it’s on a paid plan, while the Free plan site only shows the more limited, basic stats.
If you’d like access to those additional Insights for your site at librasunmind.wordpress.com, you’d need to upgrade that site to one of our paid plans.
Let us know if you have any other questions about the plans or stats!

Hi @khristiansnyder,
Thank you for your comment. I don’t have (and have never had) a paid plan on any of my websites. However, one of them allows me to see the number of daily views and visitors, their countries of origin, and the pages or posts they’ve visited. That’s why I don’t understand why LibraSunMind doesn’t have that access too.
I’d appreciate any information you could share to help me understand this issue and how to resolve it. Thank you.

Hello!
one of them allows me to see the number of daily views and visitors, their countries of origin, and the pages or posts they’ve visited.
Very interesting! If you don’t mind, could you let us know which site that is so we can take a look and compare? That way, we can find out why one is allowed to see that information and the other is not. How long have you had that other site up and running?
-
Sure! Thank you, @khristiansnyder.
They are chironiansun.wordpress.com and solquironiano.wordpress.com and they’ve been online for two years now (2024).
According to the settings, I created LibraSunMind last August, 2025. But I only published it a few days ago. So it’s not a ‘new’ account, if we take into account the date I joined.
Thank you :)

Hey there, AFAIK It’s the age of the site and not the age of the account.
Regardless, there is nothing in the support guide that indicates that a paid plan is required for location information https://wordpress.com/support/stats/audience-insights/

Thank you @justjennifer for the clarification (I thought so but wasn’t sure).
There is nothing in the support guide that indicates that a paid plan is required for location information
That’s why I’m confused :’) Looks like a glitch or something like that.

Hi @librasunmind,
The difference you’re seeing between your sites is actually expected behavior. The Stats features available to free sites can vary depending on when the site was created. Newer free sites have a more limited stats view by default. Your other sites were created earlier and still have access to the country-level stats on the free plan.To access the full Locations stats (including Countries, Regions, and Cities) on librasunmind.wordpress.com, you would need to upgrade to a Premium plan or higher.
Our support documentation could be clearer on this topic (thanks, @justjennifer for pointing that out!). I have flagged it for our team to update.
Sorry for any confusion this caused!

Hi @staff-rinaz17,
Thank you for explaining. That article is the reason I created this post, so it’s good to hear it will be reviewed.
I wish you a nice week :)
