I can't upload any videos, nothing happens when I press the button.

  Hi there, I’m sorry you’re having trouble uploading video. Can you try a few things?

  • Refresh your browser and clear your browser’s cache and cookies.
  • Make sure the URL in the address of your browser contains “wordpress.com/wp-admin”. If this is not part of the URL, the uploader and insert functions will not work properly.
  • Update the Flash player: http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/
  • Try uploading the video by going to Media > Add New in your dashboard, and try using both the multi-file and browser uploaders

  If you’re still having problems, it would be very helpful if you could give us a step by step description of what you did and what you saw – “first I clicked on this button, then on this link, then I saw X when I expected to see Y”. I realize that’s tedious, but we can’t see what you see so we need you to describe it to us as best you can.

  Hello!

  Okok, this is what I do. I have written a post that I want to add a video to from my computer. So what I do is I go to “my blog”, and press “view drafts”, then I choose the one draft that I want to add the video into. I click on it, to come to a page where I can edit my post. Then I press add media, and “Upload file”. And then I choose a video that I have got on my computer. What happens next is that is says uploading. But then nothing happens. I have starred at this for some time, but nothing really happens. How come? What can I do differently? There is no problem at all uploading pictures.

  Hi Camilla, thanks for those details!

  The problem you describe can happen sometimes if the connection between your computer and our servers is interrupted while the file is being uploaded. This may happen more often with large files, which is why you have more trouble with videos than pictures.

  Can you try the following steps to see if the upload works for you this way?

  1. Go to “My Blog” and click on “Blog Admin”
  2. In the left-hand menu, go to Media > Add New
  3. Click the “Select Files” button and select the video to upload

  If that doesn’t work, please try this:

  1. Go back to Media > Add New and click the “Browser Uploader” link (underneath the large box that says Drop files here or Select Files)
  2. Click the “Choose file” button and select the video to upload
  3. Click the “Upload” button

  Please let me know if either of those works for you! If you can upload the video this way, then you can use the “Add Media” button (when editing your post) to select the uploaded video and add it to the post.
