I can't verify ownership of my domain with the WP webmaster tool

  I’m trying to use the meta tag option in the WP Webmaster Tools Verification section in order to link my WP domain to Gmail, but each time I try I get the ” We couldn’t find the verification meta tag” response from Google.

  I have tried to upload the HTML link from Google, as the header on a new page, but that doesn’t work either. I have tried to see if I could insert the meta tag into my site’s header – but couldn’t see WHERE I could insert it.

  I have transferred my domain to WP and have tried to configure the DSN with a TXT – but this didn’t work either.

  Have spent a day on this and am close to going ape by now… Can anyone help me, please?
