I want to change my website permalink from default to post name. I have sought to rewrite .htaacess file but is not helpful.

It sounds like you are using the other version of WordPress, the open source project. This forum is for the managed hosting environment of WordPress.com hosted sites — there’s 2 versions of WordPress.
