I changed my blog name today and it won't let me create the blog.

My blog won’t let me create itself, essentially. There is no dashboard and it says the blog is deleted. I had deleted the original blog a long time ago and now I want to use it as a different name and create a new blog. So I updated my profile name and site name to chicagodreamhouse and now I want to create a site for that name. But I can’t/

You cannot recover or register any deleted blog URL. Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made.

Lastly, a verification link is sent in an email and it must be clicked to delete a blog. If clicking that link does not work then copy and paste it into your upper browser window and click. Once the verification link for deletion is clicked the blog URL is forever gone, gone, gone.

Then if you wish to you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade because it does not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is when you are domain mapping.

I did purposefully and intentionally delete a blog in my account over a year ago. I signed back in today for the first time to use the account to create a new blog. I did not know that I had to create a new blog with in the account. I thought by changing my old name and blog address it would update the account and be “a new blog”. Now I cannot create a new blog with the name I need to use because it’s my account name now. This is very difficult to explain….

I understand what you are saying and what I posted above still stands. No deleted blog URLs can be recycled. Blog names are the same as usernames for the most part. Usernames can be turned into blog names, but blog names cannot be turned into usernames.

The authors have deleted this site.
Your options are: to create a New Blog with a completely different URL and just go with that OR create a new blog with a completely different URL, even chicagodreamhouse2.wordpress.com and use the Custom Domain and Domain Mapping upgrades to get chicagodreamhouse.com or .org or .net or .biz or whatever.
