Yes, sorry, it’s there on that blog– I have a new blog that I’m trying to set up like a website called vagabondeshakespeare. It’s that one I’m having trouble with. Thanks for checking the primary, I didn’t realize that was the address that would show up. I’m still finding my way in the blogsphere.

I first created a blog called steampuckshakespeare.wordpress.com, then the one that’s giving me difficulties, vagabondeshakespeare.wordpress.com then I bought a domain name from them to have the site address vagabondeshakespeare.com. After I bought the name– I did it in the initial set-up of the blog which I want to function like a web-site I wrote and published the about bit and it shows up under the pages menu on the dashboard but not on the actual site. they also told me that the vagabondeshakespeare.com would now be my primary address but I can’t access it. I get an error message that says I’m logged in as shakespearelady which is my username for the original blog steampunkshakespeare and have to be invited to access the site by myself and am directed to a page I don’t understand. Maybe that’s the problem?? or I’m missing something most people would know automaticall thru my techno ignorance??? It’s frustrating to say the least. Thank you for taking the time to help. I hope I answered your question, I don’t actually know what a url specifically is.

Yes, generally you do need to wait. Mine took a couple or three days. However, I can see your site on the domain address, so hopefully it’s okay for you now.
However, I just had a look at your About page and it has the same content as the Home page, so I suspect that you may have set it as a static page and got something mixed up with that. I’m no expert on that, someone else will have to help you on it, but you can read the documentation in the meantime and maybe it’ll give you some clues:

The URL, by the way, is the web address of a site. So, for instance, the URL of wordpress.com is http://wordpress.com The URL of your site before buying the domain would have been http://vagabondeshakespeare.wordpress.com and after the domain starts working it will be http://vagabondeshakespeare.com
Only staff can see your settings and most of the people who answer questions on these forums (myself and raincoaster included) are volunteers, so we can’t see your settings. If you have wp-admin in any part of your blog’s URL, then that’s your dashboard which only you or staff (or any other user you’ve invited to help you run your site) can see.

Thank you for the suggestion about the static page thing. I will investigate that. I have taken the tutorial and am pretty clear about the things covered there and I’ve read all the support materials. I didn’t check other similar threads yet. didn’t see about the things to know before posting to forum so I’ve now read those and the address is the original blog so I think I need to wait longer for it to change. There always seems to come a moment when it’s assumed I know something I simply don’t and I’m not a complete idiot. I have been blogging thru word-press for a long time. It’s trying to set this new blog up like a web-site that’s challenging. Thanks for all your ideas…for taking the time and trouble to try and help someone who must seem very stupid about all this to you.
