Hi, I deleted my wordpress.com site via the dashboard today but it’s content is still accessible. How long does site deletion usually take?

It’s virtually immediate. Maybe a second or two.
It is definitely not deleted. You may try again. Did you follow the instructions in the Delete Site support page? And note the following warning at the top, which is followed by a list of less drastic options?
Deleting a site permanently removes it and you’ll never be able to re-use its WordPress.com address (such as yourgroovysite.wordpress.com).

Hi Musicdoc1 thanks but I did follow the Delete Site instructions but it is still available on the public web. I cannot access that site anymore as I have gone through the deletion process.
It was importing my old posts from Tumblr so I don’t know if this is the cause.
Any ideas?

I see. That’s to be expected. It’ll take a while for Google to drop your links off, although you might be able to expedite the process. You might find the article 3 Ways You Can Remove Unwanted Blog Pages From Google helpful.

Hi thanks. I think it is rather still on WordPress as when you type in the URL: [sitename].wordpress.com it still brings you to the website.
I have not done any searches on it.
Is there a way to remove it still? Or any admins can make it private? I’ve deleted the site so I don’t have access anymore and to be honest it did say all my post, URL link would be gone forever too.

You’ve been giving conflicting information. For example, you said,

But also you say that you think it’s still accessible. You can’t access it, but you think others can? I don’t understand. What makes you think it’s accessible?
Also, you said,

Then later say,

I can not be both private and not private at the same time. It can’t be both deleted, and not deleted.
You may add a “modlook” tag to the sidebar of this topic to call for staff attention if you’d like to confer with experts on this matter.

I should have said, “with an expert.” If you do add a modlook tag, then just wait patiently for one to respond. Might take a while.

Apologies I wasn’t very clear in my previous messages as I’m quite stressed out by this.
I was in the process of importing my tumblr blog when I noticed that my wordpress.com blog was not set to private. In a panic, I clicked on ‘delete site’ without waiting for the import to complete.
The site is now removed from my dashboard so I can no longer access it to remove the posts. However, the wordpress site itself is still accessible via its URL.
Some of the posts contained private materials which I do not wish to share hence I would appreciate if a mod/staff can look into it and completely delete the blog.

I understand now. You want to restore the site to your dashboard at My Sites. Yes, staff can assist you with that. I’m rather unfamiliar with My Sites (preferring to always use the classic wp-admin dashboard) so I don’t know how to restore a site there.
