    Hi there,

WordPress.com doesn’t include the option to edit the theme files for themes you use on your site here. If you need to customize the PHP used in your theme, you’re better of moving to a self-hosted WordPress site using the free software from WordPress.org. You can also read our page about WordPress.com and WordPress.org to learn more about the differences.

At WordPress.com, you’re welcome to customize your site using our Custom Design features (custom colors, fonts, and CSS). That’s part of our WordPress.com Premium plan.

Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)

Thank you for the answer. I have downloaded the wordpress software (wordpress-4.2.2.zip) and now I can customize it, with for instance css and php.
