I don’t want a blog….

So I am brand new to WordPress and playing with themes to see if I want to use the platform. No matter which Theme I choose, I am being forced into creating a blog. I don’t want a blog. Is that the only choice I have if I don’t sign up for a plan??
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I don’t want a blog.
What are you trying to achieve with your brand new site? If you don’t want to create regular posts on your front page you can just set your site up to consist of separate pages of content. Until you actually publish some content switching themes won’t really give you much of a feel for how your site will look.

So I removed the blog and now all I have is a photo and links to potential other pages. Is there nothing else that I can add to this?

You’ve set your site to private so I don’t know which theme you’re using. Every theme has comprehensive setup instructions but you need to create some of your own content to have something to work with to make any theme look anything like the demo.

From best I can see the “widgets’ just add crappy texts, videos, links to social media, etc., that I have ZERO control over how it looks, such as color, placement, etc… This just convinced me that there is no way I am using WordPress. Gross.
