I had another company build my web page
-
Hi. I work for High Pointe Baptist Church and had IX webhosting or Inline Bits build my website. I actually gave them everything they needed from pictures to logos. They were suppose to do a whole web and it was suppose to be done by last year. They have not kept their promise. We have a front page done. And I have paid them. I want to try to get my money back from them but regardless is there any way you can recommend anyone to help me at a resonable price transfer over what has already been done and help with the rest of the web and help with a blog. I am taking a class on wordpress right now but i am afraid that will not be quick enough.
Thank you. Monique Robbins
P. S. The blog URL that you see below is the one that i am doing my school work on. the one that needs to be transferred is http://highpointe.inlinebits.com/wp-admin and the user name is : [removed] and the password is: [removed]
Blog url: http://timetodreamphotography.wordpress.com/The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello there,
It’s important to know that you cannot build your own theme here at WordPress.com. You cannot use stylesheets form other themes and you cannot edit templates or themes. I think you ought to read this > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

A few words of advice – NEVER post log in info in a public forum
Moving the site is a bit tricky if you have not done it before – BUT the fixing the Test Pages is easy you can do that yourself – just log in and change the text to match the title – even if you don’t get the fine tune just right you will have a site that you can use while you figure out what else you want to do –

thank you for that. I am so frustrated with this company that i paid all this money to that will not finish the job. And I don’t know css and I don’t know enough about wordpress yet to barely create anything.

Timethief, thanks, the company that started building the site for me built on wordpress. so i know it is a wordpress site. It is already on there. I just don’t know how to add drop downs menus and new pages to the theme that they created probably using css with the twenty ten theme as the building block. I also want wordpress to handle hosting the domain for highpointe.org instead of ixwebhosting. So now the address is http://highpointe.inlinebits.com/wp-admin and i want it to be http://www.higpointe.org for the public and whatever for the backend.

I understand i will probably have to pay something for this and i am prepared for this as long as is it not astronomical.

Just register a WORdpress.com blog, with any URL at all, and from your existing blog hit EXPORT on the dashboard under Tools. That will give you all contents so far. Then on the dashboard of the WP.com blog, hit Import. That will bring it all in. Then you can decide which themes you like, etc. When you’ve got the new site looking the way you want, you can then use Domain Mapping to attach higmoointe.org to the blog, so nobody ever sees the original whatever.wordpress.com URL. Then go blog!

Good point raincoaster – they could move their site to WordPress.COM and map the domain name – the bad news is they have a lot of custom images – but they could have a site up in a day or two with the correct domain name – might not look as nice as the current test site but it would be up and running while they work on the long term plan
