    I had two WordPress accounts. I wanted to move over to a singular one. So I changed my username on the one I wanted to delete and then deleted all the sites attached to it.

    I then deleted the account.

    However when I go over to my other account and try to change it’s username to the other one. It says it’s already taken. Will I be able to fix this in future or is it always taken even if the account is deleted?

    I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

    Hi there,

    What is the name of the username that you changed from? If you indeed changed the username, The one you are trying to access has been renamed and as a result, permanently deleted.

    Once you change your username you will not be able to change it back and the old name will not be available for you or anyone to use:

    Change Your Username

    So, the username is no longer available for login.

    If you are wanting an account associated with a different username, the best bet is to update the email associated with the new username or move over the site content to the new account. Updating to a new username permanently deletes the old one.
