I have a site hosted on wordpress.com and a wordpress custom domain that’s been hacked

All the info on the web about how to fix a site is for self-hosted??

  • Hi there,

What is the URL of the site in question? I don’t see any evidence of unauthorised access to the account you’re using to post here.

The only way to hack a WordPress.com site is if someone managed to gain access to your password, or to your email account which would allow them to reset your password.

The first thing a hacker then does is to change the account email address to lock you out.

Both a password reset and an account email change would have sent you an email notification, and you can reply directly to that email notification to let us know it wasn’t you taking those actions, which would allow us to lock out the hacker and reverse any changes they’ve made.

The account you’re using to post here does not appear to have been active at all for the past three months, and I see no password resets or email changes, which would indicate a possible hacker, ever since this account was created two years ago.

  • Hey @neelammeetcha,

I would love to assist you, but in order to keep threads on topic with the original poster, I wanted to see if you could create a new post?:
