I lost my post

  • Unknown's avatar

I spent a long time working on a post. At some point I wanted to take a break so I clicked “Save as draft”. A second later everything was gone. I searched in the draft files, nothing. I searched in the trash, in the private posts, nothing there too. I even searched on pages in cases I started writing a page instead of post by mistake.

Shouldn’t the auto-save have saved my post even if clicked ‘delete’ or if I closed the page? I was writing for over 30 minutes. I thought that losing your text suddenly was a thing of the past but now it happens again. Please let me know how I can retrieve it.

    Thank you for your time.

  • Hi there – sorry to hear you lost your draft. Clicking “Save Draft” should normally do just as it says, save your draft.

Autosave should save every 2 minutes, as described here:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/autosave/

Shouldn’t the auto-save have saved my post even if clicked ‘delete’ or if I closed the page?

If you deleted the post, it should have moved into your Trash. If you closed the page and had not saved within the previous two minutes, you would have lost any work done in the previous two minutes.

A second later everything was gone.

Do you mean that the page went blank and your content was no longer in the post editor? Or something else? What did you see on screen at that point?

If you let me know the title of the post I can see if I can track it down.
