I need a workaround for Live Preview ASAP, its lag is killing my ability to blog

  WordPress’s “Live Preview” feature is making it nearly impossible for me to use wordpress. I have no idea what justifiable function it has, but it causes my system to lag immensely, and every single word I type takes a second to display on the screen. This makes blogging extremely unpleasant and impractical.

  So I’m like, okay that’s fine, I’ll just disable the “live preview” feature. Turns out there’s no way to do that, only getting rid of all rich text editing, which reduces me to a notepad with buttons to insert html tags– friggin’ ugly is what it is. I would think that when WordPress introduces such a resource-hogging feature, they would at least provide an “opt-out” button, but nope, no such thing.

  Looked up the “live preview” thing on wordpress.org, turns out that it’s a plugin. But I can’t disable it because WordPress.com doesn’t allow you to disable plugins. Or as your plugins FAQ page says, “we don’t support plugins”. Well I guess wordpress.org was lying to me when they said that it was a plugin.

  Okay, that was uncalled for. I mean yeah WordPress.com can be pretty unversatile at times, and wordpress.org support is (sadly) far better (and by better I mean more thorough and comprehensive) than that of WordPress.com, but this platform has done a great service to me in the provision of hosting and making the setting up of blogs, so for that I’m pretty thankful.

  So basically, I am requesting for a workaround to this issue, until you can implement an opt-out (which, since the team at Automattic is so awesome, I’m surprised they haven’t done so already). My machine isn’t exactly a powerhouse, and the lag this “live preview” thing is causing me is killing my ability to blog with WordPress. No other blog platform I’ve worked with has ever had this kind of problem, so please….fix.

  In the meantime, I’ll be using the post-via email feature as my own workaround. But please don’t keep me waiting too long, posting all my posts by email is so incredibly lame and makeshift– it’s almost as bad as posting by text (like srly, they have twitter for that, why even bother making a 140 character-long post?)

  Could you please walk me through the exact steps you’re taking when you notice that your computer is slowing down? Where does the “live preview” feature appear in your dashboard?

  It might be helpful to upload a few screenshots of where this appears:
