I need help transferring my followers

Please help. I am trying to transfer my followers from WordPress.com to my self hosted site & am having difficulty. I have the jetpack installed. I have deactivated it & activated it a number of times. When I go to my old site to migrate, it gives two blog selections, but both take me back to my old stats page. When I go to the setting to try to migrate, there is not a box to check to start the migration. I had a tech tell me to change my domain name, but I don’t understand what he wants me to do. Please help.
