    I paid for my web address and hosting – why do I need to pay extra for no ads?

    Hosting your blog at WordPress.com is always free, and we sometimes display advertisements on WordPress.com, in order to keep those free features free. We try to make the ads discreet and only run them in limited places.

    On top of those free features, we offer optional upgrades: Available Upgrades

    Your custom domain replaces the free WordPress.com address with your custom address. If you’d like to eliminate the ads on your site, as well, that’s what the No Ads upgrade is for.
