  I cannot figure out how to do this, current support info talks about using a settings icon that I don’t have.

  I see you recently purchased the Solar theme here at WordPress.com. Premium themes are not able to be transferred or downloaded from WordPress.com to be used on a WordPress.org site — they are designed to be used on sites hosted here at WordPress.com.

  However, you can try asking the theme author if they would be willing to provide a discount coupon or the theme files for you to download and use on your self-hosted WordPress.org site.
