I should not have killed my blog

I killed the blog I’d started in 2009 and started using a new one. When I type my name and the word blog into Google (Debby Waldman blog), the old, dead blog shows up, not the new one. I am thinking I should just go back to the old one, since the address is right up there. But I cannot figure out how. The old one was called debbyjw. The new one, Something Clever, does not show up at all.

Your old blog has been deleted, so it should not show up in Google. Where do you see this exactly?

You can’t go back to the old URL because old addresses are not recycled even to the original owner. You last updated your old blog a week or so ago – and deleted it also in the last week or so – it can take several months for Google and other search engines to clear their caches

Your only option at this point is to write a lot on your new site and after a while the new material will push to old material down in the search results – but it can take 4 to 6 weeks for a new web site to start showing up in search results

Thanks both of you. The answer to the first question is, I see my old blog when I type Debby Waldman blog into the Google search engine. The new one doesn’t show up at all.
