I transferred my domain to WordPress but WordPress couldn't accept payment. So
-
This is my first website. So I think I’ve screwed up and wonder if you can help. Did I transfer my domain to WordPress? Here’s where I have done so far”
1. I went to Rackshare and bought the domain greatcacaponcalvary.org for a very small country church.
2. Then I went to WordPress to sign-up for hosting. But WordPress kept shutting down after I entered my credit card info 4 or 5 times. So I couldn’t sign up and paid no money. But I did at least START the process. So now I have a blog with WordPress.
3. Then I went to Hostgator and signed up very easily for one year. All done in one 4-inch space. I chose a theme, 544 (in case it belongs to WordPress) and began THEIR process. But come time to set up the FTP client I learned that their C-Panel WON’T WORK with Windows 7, 64-bit. The instructions said I would have to go find another FTP source.
4. I searched some and came up with WebDrive, downloaded “free” from CNET which I find out later will cost $69.00 to activate. HOLY COW! So I searched some more and downloaded free Filezilla. BUT IT IS SO COMPLICATED and I just can’t get it to connect to greatcacaponcalvary.org. Not sure if I set up wrong, or whether I have transferred the domain to WordPress and that’s why I can’t reach it via Hostgator.
How can I get out of this mess? I can cancel Hostgator and go back to WordPress, but they can’t accept my payment. Maybe it’s because I have a slow connection by satellite.
Can you help?
Thank you,
Mary Ellen Huffman
