I upgraded my domain name, why is there no https:// prefix?
-
After upgrading from https://podcastpolishing.wordpress.com I now have just Podcastpolishing.com with no http:// or https:// prefix. Why is this? I’m worried it will put people off.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
The link to your site has the http:// prefix like this: http://podcastpolishing.com/
Many modern browsers (like Chrome) display sites without the http:// prefix, so you might just see the address podcastpolishing.com in your browser when you visit the site. Please let me know if you have any other questions about that. :)

Thanks Rachelmcr,
I’m also getting the ‘white page’ icon instead of the ‘green padlock’ icon in the address bar. What’s happening here?

Hi there,
That green padlock in your browser only appears on sites that are using HTTPS (which also have the https:// prefix on the address). Currently, WordPress.com only supports HTTPS on sites using the *.wordpress.com address, and not sites with custom domains like your new domain podcastpolishing.com.
Our team is working to roll out support for HTTPS on all WordPress.com sites, including sites with custom domains. We’re hoping to have that ready later this year, so stay tuned for more news about that in the future. :)
