Hi there:
It looks like you cancelled the domain renewal on April 15th and received a full refund. Canceling a domain registration means:
1. You are giving up the right to use that domain.
2. Your site may stop working at that address.
3. The domain can be lost permanently. It can be difficult to get a domain back after you have cancelled. You should only cancel a domain if you are sure you no longer want it and are okay with the potential of someone else registering and using it. Once a domain is cancelled, it will go through the same redemption process as expired domains, which can take up to 80 days for the domain authority (ICANN) to release it from redemption which would open it up to be purchased again. If you want to recover the domain, it will incur a redemption fee ($80). This fee is set by ICANN and not WordPress.com.
As of today, we’re still able to recover the domain from redemption. If your intention was to transfer it to another domain registrar, ICANN prohibits domain transfers in the first 60 days after purchase or renewal.
However, you can point your domain to Bluehost immediately (provided we recover the domain from redemption) during that 60 day waiting period.
Once that time frame is up, you can transfer the domain to Bluehost following the process here:
https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/transfer-domain-registration/
Regarding deleting your site here, that would delete everything so you would lose that content (including drafts) you have saved. If you want to keep that content but don’t want the site to be public, you can set it to private by following the steps here:
https://wordpress.com/support/settings/privacy-settings/
I know that was a lot of information, so let us know if you have questions. Otherwise we’ll wait to hear back from you about recovering your domain.
