I want to add prepaid theme to a client's website.

I have got prepaid theme on my computer for a client. I have the files and when I load them in Dreamweaver and try to view the theme it loads wrong and displays wrong. Do I need to have the client pay for the WordPress site THEN load the theme into the WordPress site? I also do not know how that’s done. My site is a free limited feature site.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The only themes we can use on free hosted WordPress.com blogs like your blog are the themes found here http://wordpress.com/themes/
There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs for security reasons and we cannot:
upload any third party themes,
create child themes,
create our own themes,
edit templates,
create own own layouts,

You can create themes, upload and install themes and plugins, run ads, and edit the database, etc. If you want FTP access and to install plugins or third party themes into a site then you will have to hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting/ and set up your own WordPress.org install.

If someone is paying you and you do not know the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org – more’s the pity!
We provide support only for blogs being hosted WordPress.COM and not for WordPress.ORG software installs. I suspect you are posting to the wrong support forum.
WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and different http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.

timethief, I understand what your saying about the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org. I am a GOOD designer. My only question really is to load this theme and have it work properly do I have to load the theme directly into a WordPress.org site. I have not used WordPress.org before for a client I normally code everything myself then ftp the files to a host which takes much more effort and understanding of code. This is just new to me.

My client as not purchased the site yet but she is going to get a WordPress.org site. She as already purchased a domain from Network Solutions from the Lucey Group. A girl at the “group” said to send the request and she will approve the domain transfer.

timethief by everything you have said then the only way for to move forward with my client I must get her to pay for the WordPress.org site or have me do that then transfer the domain and then finally upload the theme. I may correct aren’t I?

Let’s put this simply: the ONLY themes a WordPress.com blog can use are the themes (and the specific versions) that are available on the dashboard Themes page of that blog. Those are a prefab set specially adapted for WordPress.com by staff. No other themes can be used unless you’re part of the $30,000 a year VIP program like the blogs for CNN.

Oh, I don’t think the URL matters. If they have a WP.com blog, they can’t do what they want with it. If they have a WP.org blog, they have all the information they need. Our work here is done, except to reiterate what’s been said already.
I mean, how many times do you have to say the same thing in different words before somebody gets it?
