  I want to keep my domain, but I want to keep my subscription free. Im on a very limited budget and can not afford a paid plan, is there a way to make this happen?

  There is not. In order to use your own custom domain on a WordPress.com site, the WordPress.com site has to be upgraded to one of our paid plans:
