I want to move from self-hosted to wp.com and ti subscribe to WP.com premium plan

    Hi,
    I want to move from self-hosted (Siteground) to wp.com. I have an existing domain. Please advise the best and easiest way for a non-techie to do it.

    And if you’re willing to get the Business Plan, we can often import the full site for you using Jetpack.

    I’ve followed the steps and now waiting for the transfer to be completed. The note says it’ll take 7 days.

    I don’t need a Business Plan for now as I only need a static one-pager site. Thanks for the offer.

    Continuing from your last post here, you asked the following:

    I’ve purchased the Personal plan, so now I got another website at melindayeoh.com.wordpress.com. Do I delete this later when my melindayeoh.com is successfully transferred?

    I see that you have two sites at the moment.

    Site 1: melindayeohcom.wordpress.com
    Subscriptions: WordPress.com Personal plan and the domain transfer (pending) for melindayeoh.com

    Site 2: coconect.wordpress.com
    Subscriptions: Free plan

    Is your intention to use the domain melindayeoh.com with Site 1 or Site 2?

    Note that once your domain is ready, you can make your custom domain primary so that the WordPress.com address is no longer visible on your site.

    I think this should be it? And just need to wait for the domain transfer to be completed, right?

    Very happy and thankful for the useful link/steps. I managed to do the wp self-hosted to wp.com transfer quite painlessly even for a non-techie.

    Yes, that sounds about right. When the domain transfer is completed and you’re ready to point the domain away from your self-hosted site, you will want to point the domain to the WordPress.com nameservers. You can do that after the transfer is completed by following these steps.

    The nameserver changes will take up to 72 hours to take effect. When you see that the domain starts to redirect to the WordPress.com address of Site 1 (which is melindayeohcom.wordpress.com), you’ll want to follow these steps to make the custom domain primary so that your site shows up at your domain without redirecting to the WordPress.com address.
