I want to use a domain that’s already taken!

    Hello! There is a site that isn’t even activated, but the url is taken, and I would like to have that domain. How do I go about doing this? The domain is: http://www.ponchiko.com

    The site I need help with is [visible only to staff] (email visible only to moderators and staff).

    Hi there,

    The way domains work is a bit more like real estate than you would think. It’s a lot like owning “property” and even if the current owner doesn’t use it, they still own it and it can’t be purchased unless they are willing to sell it.

    Because of this, there is no way to purchase ponchiko.com I’m afraid. The owner has not cancelled it and decided to “let it go” so even though it is not in use, it is also not available. In this case you would need to find a different domain spelling that will work instead.
