I want to use a username I’ve previously changed

    I’ve decided to build an online presence on WordPress under my real name. However, my name is apparently taken. I’m very certain that no one else has the same name as I do so I assume it’s because my younger self changed it for privacy reasons (before going off the grid). How do I reclaim it back? Is it possible for me to contact WordPress stafd about this? I’m sure it’s not a huge problem for them to handle this.

    “Once you change your username you will not be able to change it back and the old name will not be available for you or anyone to use. If you just want to show your name differently please only change your Display Name.”

    What is the exact username you want to use?

    If that username has previously been used by anyone on WordPress.com, including you, and subsequently deleted, no one can ever use it again. This is a technical limitation as much as it’s a policy one, and we do not make exceptions in this regard.
