ICANN email verification – canceled WordPress domain

I canceled and deleted my domain that was hosted on WordPress.com, and since then I keep getting ICANN email verifications threatening to suspend my domain if I don’t verify it. I only received these emails starting on the day that I canceled the domain (prior to renewal). Oddly, the first email I received had ‘Action Required for Domain Activation’ and read as follows:

‘We noticed that you need to verify your email address. All you need to do is click the button below (it only takes a few seconds). You won’t be asked to log in to your WordPress.com account – we’re simply verifying ownership of this email address.’

Why would I need to do this if I canceled, deleted, and have no active domains on WordPress?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi jwdoeslife,

I’ve checked your account and can confirm that jwblogslife.com has been cancelled.

I only received these emails starting on the day that I canceled the domain

It can take a little time for domain information to be updated at the registry. This is likely to be the reason you received the email on the day you cancelled the domain.

If you are still receiving them, let me know and I’ll look into it for you.

    Thanks!
