I'd like to password protect one page on my site. It doesn't seem possible to do this

    Although the setting is available to password protect a page, it doesn’t really do the job. Anyone with access to the computer on which a password protected page was viewed has access to it without entering the password. This is very problematic. Is there a solution for this? I haven’t been able to find one in your forums or support topics. In the meantime I’ve had to remove the content from the page until this problem is resolved–if there is no solution then I will have to switch to another service provider–but I’m hopeful that there is. Thanks.

    Hi there,

    The password for password-protected pages is saved as a cookie in your browser. If you’re using a shared computer, you can clear the browser’s WordPress.com cookies when you’re done using the computer. That will remove any saved passwords so other people can’t view them without re-entering the password.

    Thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately deleting cookies doesn’t solve the problem at my end. I also tried another computer on which I I hadn’t viewed the site and the page still appeared without having to enter a password. Even if deleting cookies did solve the problem, most people wouldn’t know they have to delete cookies, thus leaving so called password protected pages accessible to anyone. So what this boils down to, is the fact that a page cannot be 100% password protected–and this should be made clear to users of WordPress. I’m just in the process of building my site and now that I’ve discovered I can’t have specific pages password protected I can’t proceed with my site as planned. Now what? This is so disappointing.

    Can you send me a link to the page you were looking at? That will help me take a closer look at it and see what’s going on there.
