  • WordPress.com upgrade renewals are based on the expiration date, not the payment date. So, if you have an upgrade that expires on 2015-05-24 (as yours does), and you renew 2015-4-1, the new expiration date will be 2016-05-24. It will not be 2016-4-1.

    Does that answer your question?

It does answer the question, thanks.

It suggests another as well: suppose I default on my fee to you, for one reason or another: I forget to pay, I am imprisoned, I am ill, I die, et sequentia and I don’t pay the fee, does all my writing vanish forever into the mist of history and become inaccessible to myself and all others for all time, or can I get it back after I get out of prison or rise from the dead?

Also, while I am imprisoned, or dead, can people read my work if I haven’t paid my fee?

I like to think of my little writing collection with you as a little library of my work. I’ve written quite a bit, quite a bit of it very good and I’ve not saved it anywhere else but on your property. I’d sure hate to lose it all forever for sake of a few quid. Nobody could ever read my work and remember me fondly.

Does Word Press keep my work in a cloud of some sort forevermore? If so, can I make arrangement for its permanent availability to fans?

Say yes, please, put my mind at ease.

  • does all my writing vanish forever into the mist of history and become inaccessible to myself and all others for all time,

    No.

or can I get it back after I get out of prison or rise from the dead?

    Yes!

Your site will always have its free ______.wordpress.com address. That URL will work regardless if you have upgrades purchased or not.

Thanks you…right now, if someone wants to read my work and they google me or a topic i have written about, they will be able to see it..but only if they use .wordpress.com after my address.??..right now I tell people to just google johndaniel begg.com.

So I’ll take a look at the premium amenities and if not for me, pay my fee for the coming year of $18 and I can rest easy that my work will just about live ….forever?

  • We can keep the content you create, but we cannot direct people from johndanielbegg.com to johndanielbegg.wordpress.com unless you are the registered owner of johndanielbegg.com (which requires a registration fee every year, as do all domain names).

    Does that make sense?

  • Unknown's avatar

It makes sense but for this: All my identifying logos and so on have always read johndanielbegg.com…plus I’ve always said to people to just look me up on johndanielbegg.com. I’ve never used johndanielbegg.wordpress.com to my knowledge. Does this mean I’ve been missing out on a lot of visitors and should I change all my identifying information and logos to johndanielbegg.wordpress.com now?

  • No, you have not been missing any visitors. Both johndanielbegg.wordpress.com and johndanielbegg.com point to the same place. I was just referring to the theoretical future that you proposed where you decided not to pay for johndanielbegg.com any longer. I was merely pointing out that your content would still be accessible on johndanielbegg.wordpress.com.
