If I purchase a redirect upgrade, will it redirect all the pages in my blog?

    If I purchase a redirect upgrade, will it redirect all the pages in my blog? Will I continue to purchase my domain name from WordPress.com each year?

    If you continue to purchase your domain from WordPress.com, you will not need a site redirect upgrade. Domain Mapping, which you have as part of registering a domain here, does the same thing.

    However, keep in mind that you will need to set up your new self-hosted WordPress site (if that is what you are doing) with the same permalink structure if you want those redirects to work properly.

    Example:

    Here is a WordPress.com post:

    http://zombiehash.com/2010/09/10/beer-brains-zombies/

    If someone found a link to that page somewhere and clicked on it after you had moved to a self hosted WordPress site, they would get a 404 error if you had not set up your new site to give that post the same URL when you moved your posts to the self-hosted site.

    Does that make sense?
