I'm needing a WordPress update

I’m wanting to update my WordPress to the latest version, because I’m having various issues with my current. I’m assuming that my version is before 2.7 +, because I don’t have an option for automatic updates. I’m not having success updating, probably because I’m not too tech savvy. Is there a way that I can get step by step directions in laymen’s terms?

We always run the latest version at WordPress.com To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities.

Thank you Kardotim, I appreciate your clarification. The trouble I’m having, is that I had purchased a space upgrade, to add an audio media player on the sidebar, but when I went to upload the song, nothing happened. It didn’t complete the request. Also, I’m trying to delete a category which I had created, but it isn’t letting me do that either. I’m not sure if there is anything that can be done, but I would love it if these issues could be resolved. Thanks.

I see. Do you also encounter this issue in a different browser? for example Firefox or Google Chrome?

I’ve only tried with Google Chrome, but I’ve already gone ahead and got a refund on the space upgrade. If trying another browser doesn’t work, is there anything else that I can try?
